ANTS

A zigzag line moving slow but steady
straight to my kitchen shelf
heading to the bottles of sweets
Ants, irritating and infinite.
Creepy things found my well hidden munchies
Brushed away, splashed lotions
Fired, vacuum cleaned.
A week passed, but that zigzag line continued
I was exhausted but they never perished
My eyes were moistened
Perseverance
Honesty
I will put your share aside
For you shared that wisdom of life
And touched my soul within.

  2. A lesson wrenched from the ants trial by trial and I relived it through the images of this poem. It is a lesson not without humor, and one I failed to learn from my own ants. The power of poetry! Thank you.

  3. Ants definitely know how to persevere. I observe mine as they trek back and forth to the hummingbird feeder, often falling in and drowning. I enjoyed this.
