Here we walk and learn....

Everybody knows where this road goes
This far stretched road on a day like this
Sun and cloud playing hide and seek
Ignorant,me, came unguarded on a day like this

Everybody knows it’s hard to walk
Miles and miles in rain and heat
to taste that rain and know the heat
catching every nerve of life, I walk and walk

everybody knows it’s a walk, but no rest
but this rotten tree and that budding plant
as sight through eyes and straight to heart
builds me soul and heart just soul and heart

Everybody knows, it ends where the road ends
Yet I see a golden one that's stretching up
And I guess rain and heat and the entire walk
Moulds you full and walks you up,safe.

  1. I like where this theme has led your thoughts. Great use of repetition in this poem. I felt that the 3rd stanza had the most impact on me. Thank you for participating on Real Toads.

  2. I love to walk in a soft, warm rain but, only if I'm not going anywhere important. This sounds just like life's struggles to me. Sometimes it's a nice walk, sometimes it's all uphill.
    Nicely said Sreeja.

  4. 'ignorant me, come unguarded on a day like this' - excellent, well-placed line. and to be molded full and walked-up safe... such a thing.

  14. I like the thought that both the comfort and the pain build the soul more rich and full than just one or the other. Great contemplative poem, Sreeja!

  16. I like this. Lots of walks in life are hard and do seem to catch every nerve....but I liked the optimism expressed in this poem. I thank you for linking to Poetry Jam (where one of my poems resides) and also to Imaginary Gardens With Real Toads where another of my poems resides!

  17. I love the idea that we cannot live with just sadness or just happiness but both are needed...bitter sweet.
