Somewhere here I am born.

(Pic from magpie tales)

Somewhere here I am born,
where many stories treaded the path,
Its not new, nor is it smooth,
the ground shows its stories,
in footprints and in puddles.

Its not new, nor is it smooth,
but the soul that flow tells the story,
reflections seldom lie, but tells the story,
like a clear crystal spreading
amidst the footprints and puddles.

Somewhere here I am born,
with colors of soil, sky and air,
you may cross me here, in the air
I am nowhere to see, but I am here,
in the soul, in soil, sky and air.

Here I wished to make marks,
marks of love and simple truths,
feet and wheels, they gave no choice,
every second is a new beginning,
if you wish, I am here always, making my marks.

  1. This poem was quite introspective... questioning our existence, and the purpose of life... very well defined... loved it :-)

  4. "the ground shows its stories"
    "reflections seldom lie"
"you may cross me here, in the air
I am nowhere to see, but I am here,"
and the repetition throughout is haunting and
the last verse is gorgeous too-- A finely executed poem.

It reminds me of Walt Whitman's last poem in "Song of myself" (#52):
"I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love,
If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.
You will hardly know who I am or what I mean,
But I shall be good health to you nevertheless,
And filter and fibre your blood."

  10. Hi Sreeja,

It is funny that when I look at the picture it makes me dizzy with trying to focus on it. Maybe makes no sense for it to make me dizzy and I'm not sure why but it does. I really could "feel" the picture so much more after reading such a wonderful poem that describes it so well. It is interesting that you can be born on such a well traveled path with so many going their own way after being born. Sometimes we can cross paths and never meet, then other times crash into each other without even trying. That is when you realize it is such a small world and we can have many friends if we choose to.

Thanks so much for sharing such a wonderful poem with us for this weeks Theme Thursday.

    God bless.

This was far and away my favourite section of the whole piece. I love the way the words paint pictures in my mind.
