Sandwiched

This aisle is narrow, sandwiched with seated spectators,
the stage is hot, patterns’ building each moment, dictates,
invisible speeches reticulate the whole place, constantly conflicting,
Politricks, Economimics, Ci’vic(ious) and every nuance dwindling;
there was an altar of belief, it was cobbled into Nano matters and thoughts.

This path is wide, trodden by innumerable persons with insights,
it is cool; a tree here stands tall with colored leaves and fruits,
a bit of nature and a bit of belief molded its texture,
a bit from every traveler, who passed by, leaving culture,
here is a rock of minerals, changed into a monument by flowing hearts.

  1. ha we both hit on altars today....the journey or path is a fav metaphor of mine...little bits of other travelers collecting there at the tree...that is a cool thing for me....beautiful write

  2. Yes Nano things are helpful- especially when the world gets crowded! I remember when I was trying to figure out what my spiritual beliefs were
I began dissecting thoughts, concepts- until I found a common denominator!

  3. This aisle is narrow...This path wide... I love how you separated the two. Going from Politricks to Nature. I enjoyed it.

  5. Ah, Sreeja.....so many people walk along the same path. All of them with their different insights. A laudable poem.

  6. Beautifully expressed comparison of passivity versus active journeying:

"This aisle is narrow, sandwiched with seated spectators,
the stage is hot, patterns’ building each moment, dictates,
invisible speeches reticulate the whole place, constantly conflicting,"

We sandwich the aisle to eat other people's thoughts where patterns conflict, while we trod the path "a bit of nature and a bit of belief molded its texture, / a bit from every traveler, who passed by, leaving culture" thus we leave "a dwindling altar of belief" for "a monument by flowing hearts."

But see: Your poem needs no explanation, yet I've summarized my reading as if to get praise from a teacher. Instead I should just say thank you.

  7. A beautiful poem, Sreeja! I specially liked the word play here... Politricks, Economimics, Ci’vic(ious) and every nuance dwindling.

The very idea of putting the whole journey into words is worth many praises. :)

  8. Clever social and political commentary--and there's something very sweet about it at the end.
