clouded

Under Windsor Bridge, 1912, by Adolphe Valette

days of fun went by as the mist here
that comes and goes with the gush of wind
he stood there in silence, pooled around
as the mist that clouded his sight, where
no images transcended above dead stillness
under the bridge that connects two shores
he stood with no shores to connect his memories
and no ships of hope passed as he stood there
in mist, where building and rebuilding of empires
of ego mystified his beliefs and burned ruthless
inside his still beating heart that knows no reason
