Lingering

I walk on clouds, when you breeze
Eyes meet eyes, a short tête-à-tête;
My credentials why so volatile, petite.
Your absence then shifts me to freeze.

Every book has your eyes, drizzling words,
My fingers move eagerly, searching warmth;
It’s a masquerade I play all day in mirth,
This plethora of your love is killing, shreds.

As monsoon takes all droplets to ocean,
As breeze carries nature everywhere,
And water embraces sun at every motion.

I console my heart to have that potion,
To breathe you and live you everywhere,
For love has no margin but poetry in motion.

  4. If we care about someone, we sometimes do seek them (or find them without having to seek) in other things we do during the day...which can either be a good or haunting. I love the lines:

    As monsoon takes all droplets to ocean,
    As breeze carries natre everywhere
    And water embraces sun at every motion.

  6. Each stanza outdoes the one before. The last two are especially wonderful and could stand alone as a complete poem.

  7. How the heart aches to be with the one it loves. This is really beautiful writing Sreeja. I agree with Sherry, each stanza is somehow better than the one before. The last two are stunning!

  8. Have I read this one before in a longer form? There is something familiar about settling for the presences she can have when the object of affection is not available: "Every book has your eyes, drizzling words" the very excess, plethora of him to the you who masquerades . . . pretending the poetry is between, is in motion--not just the droplets going with all else to the sea . . . Does everyone in youth accept only that portion? Or are we talking about the relationship of a young one to a famous singer, poet, or movie star?

  11. Killer last line...sorry but had to repeat that again. The rest are equally as mesmerizing, but to end with that one is awesome. Love is a crazy thing.....but its much less so with words like these to fall back on. Great writing.
