Calm!

(From Imaginary Garden With Real Toads-Photo by Laurie Kolp)

As I walk through,
shadows pull along.
As I walk through,
they crawl from under
those heavy rocks of yester-
days; of rattling inner thoughts,
of black clouds of today.
I know there are trees
beyond these rocks,
calm, and their shadows
dance with them
when they sway
with winds
and they don’t stare back as mine!
.......    !
I know I stare back!
Calm! Calm and Calm
Beyond all the limits
there is an ocean, boundless
within my limits
and I hear that music
where shadows melt away.

  2. Beautiful. I suppose we all try to find our inner peace in the best way we can for us. The start of this shows the inner turmoil, and maybe even fear and then, the voice of sanity seems to guide to calm.
    Lovely imagery.

  10. The juxtaposition of the word 'Calm' and the '!' startled me, made me pay attention, forced me to ponder meaning.

  12. How lovely to see that everything dark and luring is obliterated by hope. I love the motion and sound in this piece: the pull, the crawl, the walk, the sway, and the music. Very calm and effective. I like the changes here, also. :)

  14. "within my limits"
What a wonderful way to think of boundaries and edges, as sometime the limits may disappear into the calm.

  15. First I was going to say my favorite part was the first stanza, but I went back and I liked the second stanza too and now I cannot pick a favorite part. So that is a sign of a good poem I think! Thanks for participating with my prompt.
