A wink of
an eye, time flown by
I am here,
shy and in awe slightly
as always
do I… grand pa … and you,
its December
2, it’s been years through
many things
in life without you
. . . I miss you.
I am a
grown up, a wife
and a mother,
you know!
But still I
am there
where you
left me, Pa dear.
I miss your
stories, my fairy tales
I miss how
you cared, nobody knows.
My world is
heaven, but, you know?
I miss; I
miss your unfettered love;
I miss
being your little kid,
to live
without any fear and tear,
to believe
that life is fair.
That its
only love that cheer
the whole
world, grand pa dear.
I miss you
and being your kid,
I am still
there, Pa, where you left me… .
That must be such a sweet poem for a father. The reminisces are nicely conveyed, Sreeja. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful feelings, beautiful words, unfettered love! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThis is really touching. I am sure your Grand Pa must be there looking and caring for you even today .
ReplyDeletesounds like he was a wonderful man...loved that he told you stories...my grandpa did as well...lovely memories..
ReplyDeleteunfettered love that's available in childhood...hard not to miss that indeed!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and heartfelt. I think, no matter what age we are, we never really outgrow wishing we were still somebody's 'little kid.'
ReplyDeleteI am there
ReplyDeletewhere you left me, Pa dear....you got me right there...to lose a family member is so emotional for me...especially a parent figure....
I believe, he knows... Their body may leave us but, I don't think they ever fully leave. Their love doesn't for sure. He must have been a wonderful man to have as a grandfather, I know I would have thought so from how you've described him.
ReplyDeleteLovely writing.
