...returning to rivers...

Some days I shut myself up
Windows and doors closed
And pour a river song to my ears, uncut

We are like pollen and gale
We tumble a lot and gather piles
Of dead and tender leaves of life, infinite

Some days I shut myself up
Drink in rivers of thoughts
And soak upside down, inside out

Sieves out dead leaves and thorns
Gathers tender leaves and golden stones
And that needs rivers to dip and rise

Next morning when the sun rises, I will forget
If love was the bird that knocked at the window
I will forget to contemplate so
I have got a river inside me
Now for days I will be rich as a tree
Deep as an ocean and will regret nothing

  1. This is a well put together piece about how to be nourishing to one's self. To allow the river inside to grow and to heal. Thanks for bringing your poem to the collective River.

  2. Oh! Me too. I am just learning that doing so is better than depression, and returning from the river requires no added healing, as it is health itself. "Now for days I will be rich as a tree."

Why do some paths get lost between uses?

  3. Nice comparison between the days when one has shut oneself up drinking or pouring a river and those other days when one has the river flowing already inside one perhaps thanks to those shut up days.

  4. I like the metaphor too of that river being us~ This part is very inspiring to read:

I have got a river inside me
Now for days I will be rich as a tree
Deep as an ocean and will regret nothing

  6. the river does carry a lot of things with it on its flow and I loved reading how you let some of it be absorbed into your days on the days you needed to feel it uncut in your soul. I imagine traveling though life somehow, allowing experiences to be absorbed into our lives, living other's and our own too. the river of life seems a strong force in yours. so well written

Very true Sreeja! We are all open to external forces impacting on our lives. In the process our efforts were spent on warding them off. They were not being beneficial most times.
