Here at the cross road I feel a pain;
I know you were carrying it for years.
Now,
I feel like I am just another you.
When I turn back
It’s blank
I regret
For the loss.
From here onwards
I will keep my soul’s eyes opened
For never missing the ME in YOU.
It is no promise
For promises are butterflies,
Enchanting and momentary.
This is the YOU in ME talking
To me
That I am not a mere ME
But part of that inevitable YOU
Without whom I am,
Just another puzzle unsolved.
I open my eyes, here.
It’s chilling when these wings take me high
But it is a moment’s frustration
Now no gravity pulls me
Its ecstasy up here…
Lovely poem ... truly ecstatic :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amrit....
DeleteThis is deep, Sreeja. So much IS 'just another puzzle unsolved' until we find its meaning somehow. I like the ending: "Is ecstasy up here...."
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mary.....when we can find in the other person the me elements....think how how different our world would have been....ah but may be this is mere ecstasy.....
DeleteI specially like:
ReplyDeleteFor promises are butterflies,
Enchanting and momentary.
Thanks for sharing them ~
Thank you Grace....

The crossroads feels like true marriage, love to love, and it is then no wonder that it takes a while and there is a bit of holding back before "Its ecstasy up here… " Beautiful.
(I note this crossroads could be other things--even death--but this poem is too ALIVE!)
Thank you Susan....it was about all relationships I could think of at that moment.......
DeleteVery beautiful.....and mystical.........I love where this poem - and your flight - took you!
ReplyDeleteThank you sherry.....

Nice comparison!
Thank you so much....
Delete"For promises are butterflies,

This is profound...lovely metaphor.
Thank you Hannah for being here.....:-)
DeleteSuch a beautiful representation of evolving and discovering the me in you! Beautiful~
ReplyDeleteI loved your ending :D
Thank you so much Ella....:-)
DeleteNo gravity pulls me...that says so much to me. To be able to soar above that which only wishes to pull you into despair. A beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much......:-)
Delete"Promises are like butterflies..." This is an interesting thought to ponder. Your poem is full of lovely and interesting images to reflect upon.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much .......:-)
DeleteI really love the comparison of promises to butterflies because it is so true. While I was reading this I was thinking about how some couples just seem to be one entity and they dress in matching outfits (which I truly dislike) and they seem to talk as one. I guess they are a good match. I sometimes wonder if they ever argue, and then I also hear about couples that supposedly never argue. I do believe one can find the me in you and still be me without giving everything to you and we are two and not just one but we are also a unit of one. Maybe growing up when I did and at the time when women were fighting to get their liberation makes me not want to be "one" with my spouse. But I really do like your poem and maybe someday I will be one with him, just not today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great contribution to this weeks Theme Thursday prompt about Promises. They really are hard to keep.
God bless.
Thank you so much.....I really appreciate your thoughts....its always the right time and right experiences that brings the changes. Understanding and accepting is the key...I too don't like to erase me for the you....its good when the Me and you can co-exist.....
DeleteNice composition indeed!:)
ReplyDeletethank you so much...
