summer night albert bloch 1913- from Magpie pics
As the day hesitated to part;
clinging back still with purplish presence,
silver lines creaked in from behind twigs,
leaves
and slumbery minds
brushing silver strokes
over purplish hues.
The four of us,
The four of us,
here we meet again after a decade;
the letter we wrote for our veins to imbibe
the very essence of rebellious red passions
still screeching to find identity,
the one we forgot among old magazines
peeped out so purposely on this summer night.
A meeting tempted by fermented fancies,
and this one making undesirable red lines
here in our purplish lush identities.
So dire,
to take away the silverish blankets,
this night will pass soon
the letter is so silly old paper
with passions to fight injustice
but we are happy little rich niggards,
why then this red lines are screeching loud
sending persistent ants over slumbering veins
this summer night is short
and we are caught
between red and purple.
"a meeting tempted by fermented fancies,
ReplyDeletemaking undesirable red lines" - Truly romantic !!!
thank you....
Deletethe letter is so silly old paper
ReplyDeletewith passions to fight injustice
but we are happy little rich niggards,...wow....
intense verse, great closure...still trying to find identity....i feel and understand that...
Thank you so much Brian....thats the real dilemma..
DeleteI enjoyed thinking about these two who met after a decade had past and wondered about this letter they were contemplating together after this time. Your poem was rich with silver, red, and purple. Thanks for joining us at Poetry Jam.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.....
Delete"As the day hesitated to part;
ReplyDeleteclinging back still with purplish presence . . ."
WOW
" this night will pass soon
the letter is so silly old paper
with passions to fight injustice"
I am not sure. The past and present are written in the landscape of now and then:
"why then this red lines are screeching loud
sending persistent ants over slumbering veins"
Every single line here is painfully gorgeous and true! I would never go back! I like more restfulness now in my life.
Thank you Susan....on the way of becoming, there are many things we compromise on.........but they will haunt us if we still have that true heart.....
DeleteSome haunts are welcome. Some of my welcome haunts have actually passed on, and I do revisit their places because it is better than nothing . . . much better. But I think those are the ones that I had definitely not compromised on in any way. Happy memories with sad ends.
Deleteand so i admire you for being such an honest person....
DeleteGreat stuff, Sreeja, i felt this image was a state of being, yet after reading your work i feel it is dedinitely more a state of becoming, thanks

ReplyDeleteSome great lines in this. 'Fermented fancies' and
ReplyDelete'why then this red lines are screeching loud
sending persistent ants over slumbering veins'
and caught between red and purple is a great line too.
You have woven this in such a clever way it could be about growing up but also about being on the cusp of changing seasons too.
This is one of you best yet Sreeja. Beautiful.
Oh thank you Bren....you are always such a good support.....
ReplyDeleteFeelings can be magical sometimes....you have captured that here Sreeja....this is beautiful! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the line "with passions to fight injustice" along with so many here. I would probably have to reprint just about every line. So much emotion about one night and the colors red and purple. It just reminds me about a beautiful sunset.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this exquisite poem with us for this weeks Temptation Theme Thursday.
God bless.
Hello.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great lines! Nice imagery and flow. Love purple..it's at the top of my favorite colors. Very nicely done Sreeja! Thanks for sharing and visiting.
