My beaded chain broke;
The rainbow scattered across,
Like drops of tears that
carried stories
Of all colours from an open
book
That waited to spill the waves
rising
In the pooled images of life
from across
And from within that stitched
in colourful patterns,
To my attire that revealed me.
My beaded chain broke,
When I embraced the thorny rose
plant
Of life, Coloured beads
scattered over,
Over grass of green turning
them to buds
Of rainbow colour
I closed them in my books
To scatter myself in colours
And bloom into life
When black and white shadows
Will pay their visits
fleetingly,
Yes my beaded chain broke
And I let it break.
Very nicely done. There are some really cool lines here, especially in the second stanza, over grass of green turning the to buds of rainbow color, to scatter myself in colours, when black and white shadows will pay their visits fleetingly. Great choices and love the relation between the stanzas. Strong write. thanks
ReplyDeleteThank you Fred... sometimes these feelings are strong.
Deletethe repetition worked nicely in this , really helped set the tone :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes we don't realise that we ourselves need to break free of what holds us back so that we can move ahead with our lives. I let out a huge sigh as I read the last line... you freed yourself.
ReplyDeleteLoved all of the colours in this. The bravado and the rising to meet life.
Great poem.
Thank you so much Bren, to break free is such a good feeling...
DeleteOh my, oh my, oh my! I love this so much! The rainbow of you in and out of books bloomed and rebloomed--to allow yourself to take up space and splash Light all over it expansively! What a message, what a visual! Is it in your art as well?
ReplyDeletethank you so much Susan ..you made my day...I love colors and I try to do in canvass too...
Deletesometimes we just have to let it break
ReplyDeleteThank you...

DeleteThose beads each will have a life of their own....the chain may have 'broken,' but the beads will live on!
ReplyDeleteoh yes..thats the core...
DeleteYou let it break, you let yourself free. 'Free' is a feeling quite difficult to express. Beautifully written, Sreeja!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful Sreeja... stepping into reality... the ups and downs... sorrows and joys... this is embracing life.

My favourite lines, beautiful!
WOW! I so love this poem! "My beaded chain broke, when I embraced the thorny rose plant of life....and I let it break".....truly wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful...you let the beads break upon life's thorns. You chose to live when life only wanted you to go dark...Such a great way to think and live!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely treatise, embracing responsibility via metaphor. Nicely done.

ReplyDeleteThis made me think of the, "mysterious-glue," that holds all our atoms together and if it somehow just came undone that we'd all...everything would just shatter into a zillion fragments of rainbow colors.
ReplyDeleteCool poem indeed, sreeja!
