Close to
memories---
Deep,
enigmatic,
Taking
toward forest rains,
Deep, dark
moss covered trees and
Toward lost
walkways of yesterdays,
Toward
glimmering deceits of tomorrow,
Evoking déjà
vu .
The ocean
wind tastes saline;
Coming from
eons across,
Passing the
sea
To the
beach, where my legs taste eternity;
The waves
coming from you, oh ocean,
Talk to my
roots
As earth
soaks herself in saline stories,
Evoking déjà
vu.
I realize,
We humans
don’t carry ears on legs,
And those
who carry,
Their sounds
die after a few miles;
We are more
eyes and mouth than ears,
and your stories are syllables of life.
and your stories are syllables of life.
At night the
songs of your people haunt
And the moon dances in your waves;
Your saline
stories are seeping in
Through earth,
spreading,
Desperate to
be heard;
I shut my
eyes tight, but
Dreams of
little mermaids playing around corals,
And of
vanishing mountains waves in.
And the moon dances in your waves;
ReplyDeleteYour saline stories are seeping in

Such beautiful lines Sreeja, no doubt the ocean acts as a witness to stories when we opt to share our woes and dreams. Beautifully penned. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights :D
Lots of love,

Yup our journey is mysterious....yet there are people who end up dividing and diminishing the very truth of nature...instead of living through this blessing...thank you so much Grace!

DeleteI agree - the last stanza is lovely. The ocean and water in general is therapeutic - the sound, the image, the feel of it. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret...true, it's therapeutic!
DeleteBeautiful poem !
ReplyDeleteThank you...!
DeleteTo me this speaks of our beginnings, as we are made of the "ocean" in our similarities of salinity. It has an ancient and tribal feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you touched the chord...thank you so much!
Delete"We are more eyes and mouth than ears,
ReplyDeleteand your stories are syllables of life."....only if we would listen...Every word of this wonderful poem is filled with intense feeling...
