the blue window portrayed an evenly
blank, blue sky
blank, as blank as the walls that never
reflected her
her hand reclined on the sofa’s
headrest cullying a mind
that rested not much, not at all, even
the red sofa failed
its occupant’s avid spirit buried
within the layers of sanity
normalcy is perceived as to the ways
prevalent in and around
and her mind dangled between commonness
and the impulses
as the sky reflected an ocean blue,
contemplating ocean secrets
the loud red sofa contained itself
under the resting fingers
remained blank as the walls, the sky
and blank about her mind

It seems perfect on a day when the sky seems blank, to spend the day contemplating ocean secrets...it would take a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteyes...thank you so much!
DeleteWhat a very interesting poem on silence. I love how you incorporated the art piece into the poem. The blank sky, the avid spirit buried in sanity, dangling between commonness and impulse, and the quiet loud red sofa ...such great images. This is wonderful!!

DeleteSomehow this kind of silence seems a bit melancholic to me... it reminds of the mood in an Edward Hopper painting...
ReplyDeleteYep....this came up while talking to some friends who are home makers.... thank you!!
DeleteFor me its the blank canvas outside and within. And I love contemplating ocean secrets in silence. Good to see you!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you too....thank you!!
DeleteI particularly like the part about the sky "contemplating ocean secrets." This poem speaks to the desire to escape the confines of one's nature.
